Introduction
Foghlai ("we", "our", or "the app") is an IELTS practice application that helps users practise speaking, listening, reading, writing, mock exams, and review tasks. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, which third-party services may process it, and what choices you have.
Information We Collect

AI, Speech, and Learning Content
Foghlai uses AI and speech services to provide features such as transcription, pronunciation assessment, writing feedback, speaking feedback, and real-time mock speaking practice.
When you use these features, your recordings, transcripts, writing drafts, answers, and related learning content may be sent to third-party AI or speech providers only as needed to provide the requested feature.
We do not sell your learning content. We also do not intentionally use your recordings, transcripts, answers, or writing drafts to train our own models. Where provider settings or API terms allow configuration, we aim to use services in a way that avoids using your content for provider-side model training.
AI-generated scores and feedback are for practice and self-review only. They are not official IELTS scores and should not be treated as a guarantee of exam results.
Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party service providers to operate Foghlai. These services help us with account management, website hosting, email delivery, secure storage, AI feedback, speech processing, service operation, and security maintenance.
Our current main service providers include Supabase, Vercel, Resend, Microsoft Azure, OpenAI, and Google Cloud.
These providers may process limited personal data or learning content only as needed to provide the relevant feature.
When you use Google sign-in, we receive basic account information through Supabase Auth, such as your email address, display name, and avatar, to create and identify your account. We do not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, calendar, or other Google data.
Data Storage and Security
Your account data and practice records are stored using Supabase with access controls designed to keep each user's data separate. Passwords are handled by Supabase Auth and are not stored by Foghlai in plain text.
We use HTTPS for data transmission. We also use platform logs and error information to diagnose problems, monitor reliability, and protect the service.
No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we aim to use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate for a small independent learning product.
Voice Recordings and Microphone Access
Speaking practice requires microphone access so that Foghlai can record your response, transcribe it, and generate feedback.
Your browser will ask for microphone permission before recording. You can revoke microphone permission at any time through your browser or device settings.
Voice recordings are used to provide speaking practice features such as transcription, playback, pronunciation assessment, and feedback. We aim to limit retention of recordings where possible, while keeping the learning results needed for your practice history.
Cookies and Local Storage
Foghlai uses cookies and similar browser storage mainly for authentication sessions, language preferences, theme preferences, and basic app functionality. We do not use advertising cookies. We may rely on hosting or platform-level logs and analytics to understand reliability, usage, and errors.
Your Choices and Rights
You can update certain account and learning profile information in the app.
You may request deletion of your account and associated data through the app where available or by contacting us. After deletion, some limited records may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or provider systems as required for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or normal infrastructure operation.
You may also contact us with privacy-related questions, correction requests, or data deletion requests.
Children
Foghlai is intended for users preparing for language exams and is not designed for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Foghlai changes. When we make meaningful changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
